Norman Matthews, aged 88, next to the oldest man in town, died Tuesday night after a short illness. Mr. Matthews was on the street only a few days before his death. Mr. Matthews was born in Danville, Can., but came to this town from Derry about 50 years ago and has been engaged in farming. The deceased has been an industrious, highly respected citizen, and in his half century residence in town made many warm friends. He leaves a wife and two sons, Charles of this town, and one son in the west. The funeral will be held on Friday.

2011-Jan Found Marriage record in Lowell to Malvina M Daniels. Note that date is one year later than cogswell claims.
Also of note - sister Caroline was married in Lowell AND Malvina was born in Shipton.
Is it possible that Malvina and Caroline were friends working in the mills in Lowell?
Found naturalization record at National Archives - however it is only a record "prepared in Lieu of Missing Petition" apparently the original from the Supreme Judicial court at Concord, NH is missing.
2007-Oct found Death record in search for Matthews' deaths in NH @ NEHGS. Lists parents as Ruth and Zenas - and includes his birth date and information. (Very useful source!)
